Group 3 Period 2 found out that moving particles make up all matter. Particles of a solid do not move fast enough to overcome the strong attraction between them, so they are held tightly in place. Their are two types of solids, crystalline, and amorphous. Crystalline solids have orderly 3 demensionaly arranged molecules. A amorphous solids have molecules that have no particular order. The particles vibrate in place. Solids are defined as matter with a definate shape, and volume.For example baseballs are solids like the one below.

The baseball has a definate shape, and volume, so it is a solid.
